A Short Trip to Penang

I was wondering, where we could go for a short trip, plus this time we will bring along our helper. So I needed a nearby location, with everything cheap and good.... Thanks to the budget airlines these days that make travelling so convenient for everyone... hehehehe!!!!

So in the end, we decided to make a trip down to Penang. It has been more than 15 years ago since I had visited Penang. My girlfriend, a Penang girl, had went back home to visit her folks and family in September, and she told me that Penang has changed alot. Alot of high rise buildings and malls.

We booked our hotel in Gerogetown area, Hotel Royal Penang. Not too bad the room size, quite spacious. And this is the view from my hotel room. Nice view, isn't it...???

We arrived Penang at about 5pm due to the flight delay and while we waitied for our land transfer, it started to rain so heavily...!!! The driver then told us that it has been raining since the past 5 days without fail, plus at around the same timing... We were like......duh....

We didn't do very much on the day of arrival. Plus it was raining, and that there were 7 of us, so the cabs there might not wanna take us all in 1 cab. But some how or rather, some drivers did... :-p

On our 2nd day, we went for early breakfast and set out to the Penang Hill where we took a tram up the hill. It kinda resemble Hong Kong. The Peak.

Nic had fun taking pictures with the snakes at the Penang Hill and the Snake Temple.

Mimi was curious about the snake too, but she wouldn't dare to touch it...

It was still raining, without fail, at the same timing again... So after our dinner, we left the girls in the room. So we got a chance to go out on our own.... To the Batu Ferringgi Night Market!!!! And our foot massage too!!!

These are the local food that we managed to try at the Gurney Drive after the night market. The hawkers there rather resemble Newton Circle? Food there is cheap, of course, because it's hawker.

We tried the local food like Penang Laksa, Penang Rojak, Penang Char Kway Teow, Penang Wan Tan Mee, Penang Chendol.
We were really clueless what we should do on our 3rd day in Penang. Basically, we were just eating, walking, doing nothing everyday. Also partly because of the rain, it has quite dampen our moods...

We headed off the the coffeeshop behind our hotel where they seve a variety of local food as well.

Lor Mee, Laksa, Shredded Chix with Kway Teow Soup, Chee Cheong Fun.

Mimi went with us while the 2 jiejies prefer to have their breakfast in the hotel.

After our breakfast, we walked to the Tau Sar Piah shop, a 5 mins walk from our hotel. These "Ghee Hiang" tau sar piah are recommended by the locals.

Hubby had to try the Penang Bah Kut Teh.

The taste of it is different from Sg, as theirs is sweeter. And also, their bah kut teh has more items inside.

So after our dinner at Gurney Plaza, we went to Starbucks for drinks....:))

My excitement was.....

My Books I have gotten from there... hahahaha!!!
